LOVE CUTS 《割爱》

Overview from Yahoo:
In Singaporean drama "Love Cuts", a 40-year-old mother of two (Zoe Tay) struggles with terminal breast cancer. It's touted as not only a poignant and moving portrayal of the challenges she faces as a result of her diagnosis, but also of how she inspires and changes the lives of the people around her. Also starring Hong Kong's Kenny Ho. Directed by Gerald Lee and scripted by Danny Yeo and Lee Shyh Jih. This movie receives the backing of Singapore's Health Promotion Board.

Initially, I wasn't interested in this movie at all. That's because....
#1. How great can a Singapore Film be?
#2. It is a Breast Cancer film right? Zoe Tay is only good at acting as Rich Tai-Tais and Gambles. Her previous auntie role in 不凡的爱 was horrible.
#3. I heard that the film was heavily funded by many authorities. I guessed the probably will have lots of advertisement in the show....

My Mother was keen in the show for I-dont-know what reason, so I sent in my particulars to omy.sg, hoping to get a pair of tickets.

I can say that the movie was really not what I expected!
#1. It was a good show, I must admit.
#2. Well, Zoe Tay can take on miserable roles too! I could really feel the connection with her.
#3. eh.. I never see much advertisements in the entire film. Only ONCE! Where they purposely showed NEW MOON rice and chicken essence. haha
Furthermore...
I think that the cast was Fantastic! Christy Yow spiced up the entire movie with her Body! Guys and Girls! IF you wanna see some flesh from Allan Wu and Christy Yow, Watched IT!

The feelings and emotions of a Breast Cancer patient wasn't well portrayed. Instead it is the bond within the family and friendship that touched many of our hearts. ( I could hear sniffing in the theater. )

Catch the Movie! It's worth your ticket price!
I give 4/5 stars! plus 0.5 for it being a Singapore Film! :D

So, yea. I attended the movie preview with my Mother. Not as if I've got no friends but I hope that after the show, she will go from a health screening and check if she is fine. We all know Breast Cancer is the NUMBER1 killer for women in Singapore. I wouldn't want to see my precious one suffering in the future.

-Movie Preview!

I would like to thank OMY.sg for giving me the preview tickets for this movie. Appreciates Appreciates. :D

When I knew that I have been selected to attend the Movie Preview of Aftershock , I thought that it was a lousy show. Why? Because I'm such a low profile blogger and if it's the HIT show, they would definitely give the precious ticket to some other bloggers with much more hits a day so as to advertise the movie.

So, Jovan and Jovan watched it together. Take a look at the trailer!

So, basically the show is about the Tangshan Earthquak which happened in 1976. It is to commemerate the catastrophe whictook away many innocent lives. You may think this is a Documentary, but NO! The movie circles around a family who had been largely affected by the disaster. Despite the story being a fiction, it was a really touching one. It touched the hearts of many in the cinema, I could hear sniffings of sadness.

Anyway...

-There was ALMOST a sex scene at the beginning of the show. Hmmm. Don't know why the director put it it...

-The scene of the earthquake was GREAT! Realistic~ So real that I thought I was there at the scene.

-The actors were GREAT! (They had to delivered a mixture of feelings in many scenes... :( )

-There were MANY Mr. Mao ZheDong. It happened during the Communist China period. It kinda allow me to reate back to my knowledge of history.

I shall SPOIL the movie a lil bit...

The earthquake had caused many people to die tragically. The family of four lost their Father. Their Mother survived but her Son and Daughter were trapped under the thick layers of rubble. As the salvation of one would lead to death of another. The Mother had to make a important decision. A decision of saving either the Son or the Daughter... ....

Guess who she chose?! Amazingly, the poor Mother managed to reunite with her two kids after over 20years. What happened during the 20years?

WATCH IT and YOU WILL KNOW!

(Remember to prepare some tissue papers during the show cos one Jovan cried many times... :P)

Marc Jacob is the shorter one. The other man is Lorenzo Martone, his boyfriend.

Creative Director of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, is gay. He has a Brazilian boyfriend and I suppose they are getting married or even married. Is so hard to believe, OMG. He is the head designer for Marc Jacobs, as well as the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs.

After school, it was BROMANCE. Johnny, Phillip and I went over to Astons for lunch. My second time at Astons. Somehow I still prefer Macdonald and food court type of burger. hehe :D

TK is the last stop for the torch relay on the route of "Respect". All gotta stay back and wait for the torch to arrive and... it rained. SO SAD. Games were organised and TKG came too. :D:D

I was so obsessed with this hemisphere thingy. Hehe :)

The torch came in a bus and there were traffic police, ambulance and even a DHL truck. haha. I thought that the torch will run over...

Tk people got the torch and ran up and down the technical block with it. Haha. So funny.

And... It came came to the Hall...

SO COOL SO COOL. TK is one of the few school in Singapore that's able to host the fire. Honoured. Honoured.

GUIDES CARNIVAL

-So many people.

Supposedly, it's primary 6 class reunion today but due to the bad response, it was canceled last minute last night. Nothing planned for the day, so decided to tag along with Phillip and Alvin to go to BISHAN for the Guides carnival at their HQ.

Safety precautions for H1N1 were excellent. Everyone had to register before entering, so in case if anyone who enters is sick, it will be easy to identify guests and QUARANTINE everyone. TK guides who reported for shirt also had to take temperature. OMG.

"Excuse me. Where is the Guides carnival?"

The first question I askied Miss Razie when I entered.

It was really crowded. Almost going to leave but Gloria came along...

Feeling really uncomfortable in my stomach after eating all the snacks and everything. So, I decided to skip lunch and look at Mister Alvin have his MACDONALD meal.

I'm such a great photographer. I can make him SMILE.

Today, my brother and I were going to give our parents their anniversay gift which costs us over $3000. That gift was a trip to London in August to see a show on Michael Jackson's comeback tour. FML.

I've watched the show! Watched with ShaoWei at Vivo. :D We thought we saw Franco, but it was actually his twin brother! Omg. How cool is that. Met Alfreda too :D

Anyway. About the show. Not much horror element inside, but there were lots of shocking scenes. It actually scare me quite a lot. Haha. However, thinking back about the show, it seems funny, all the SCARY parts are like senseless and comedic.

-The Last Kampong

Started our Project Work in the morning. We met at 1o and had our breakfast at Macdonalds and also discussed on the interview questions and how to film when someone is being interviewed.

Thats the group shot. Alvin's suppose to crop my face and photoshop it to make it a complete group shot. :D

We were so afraid of the kampong dogs there. They are like monsters, so scary...

Don't you think the Kampong is just so beautiful? I'm starting to love the place, especially with all the trees and plants around. It's like SO COOL~

We have actually arranged for an interview with the owner of the house above but they left for Malaysia. SO SAD. . .

While interviewing the malay lady, the lady owner walked past us. I knew how the land owner looks like long before whie doing a research on the Kampong. I was thrilled upon seeing her, as if she was a superstar. Thankfully we manged to interview her as well to get to know more about the Kampong. She's really a nice woman and had taught us many life lessons.

It's so difficult finding someone who shares the same interst as me and would LOVE to visit the exhibition by the GREAT Christian Lacroix. The exhibition is closing tomorrow and I've got no choice but to force my sister to go with me....

Christian Lacroix is French.
He is a costume designer, fashion designer.
He had designed costumes for many plays and musicals.
This exhibit is the FIRST in Asia. :D:D
The opening show at Audi Fashion Festival'09 by Christian Lacroix costs $500 per ticket. OMG.

"Couture dresses should be perfect at close range.

As technology impoves and advances, the great designer also never keep himself out of date. Sketches 20 years ago were on paper by paint and now his sketches are all digital. How cool is that. :D

PW trip to Dalian, China is canceled due to H1N1. We had to do our project work in Singapore and we decided to do a video on the last kampong of Singapore :D

I promised Alvin on msn the night before that I will make pancakes for the group and I woke up late in the end. Opps. No pancakes...

We needed to show the difference between the city side Singapore and the kampong side of Sinagpore. So, we acted like tourists for awhile around city :D

Not Feeling Well.

The weather hasn't been good. Many people have been falling sick ill. Lots of Facebook status's that goes "I'M SICK", "I'm on 2 days mc." Haha. I'm selected by OMY to be one to 30 lucky bloggers to catch the exclusive (I suppose) movie preview of STAR TREK! Sounds exciting right? I'm just so LUCKY!

Probably many of you have received this message.

This morning during Chemisrty make-up lesson, Sunshine kept shouting "Got Bomb in Bugis" during lesson and pissed the teacher off. I thought that Miss Lui told him that shes going Bugis and Sunshine said that to make her not go there.

WAHAHA. Thinking that it's just a joke. I continued to meet up with Adler after my class and we were at Bugis area. Policemen around. Slack-looking sercurity guards were patroling around. I could seriously sensed the seriousness of it. But somehow, it just did not make me leave Bugis.

After I came back home and watched the news. It's said that it was a prank by a 19 years old boy. The message started spreading on frieday night.

Hmm. How cool is this?! He just sent an sms and it spreaded like fire. Quite a lot of people knew about it. However, I recived the sms after I know truth.

Hmm. Who knows? It may not be a prank. It may be a leaked out secret information. The sms may be true. Probably the government just wants to calm us down by saying it's a prank. HMMM. This case is interesting! :D

Had scouts training before the reunion. ShiDe and I requested to leave early and we took a cab down to Mrs Soh's house at Tanah Merah.
I've gotten one extra angbao! :D:D Many people were there. Not only the people in the picture were there, JianHan, Vanessa, Glenn, Sean, Martin, Daryl, Wesely went there too. :D:D Really nice to see 6.1 people after the previous class chalet which was at the end of 2007.

Like usual for every Chinese New Year, my family will take a family photo with our new clothes on before going to Grandma place for visiting.

I've been busy with school work, trying hard to adapt with secondary 3 life. Many tests ahead and I've already had a few tests. School takes up most of my time. :(

I shall show off a bit.
I was chosen to represent Scouts and remind the school about the Singtel fold-a-heart charity programme during morning assembly. Many people told me that I did a great job. *Clap for me!! Actually I was stammering and feeling nervous up there facing the whole school. It's definitely a cool experience for me. Anyway. TK raised $2900+ for the Singtel fold-a-heart Charity project on friday :D

Firday was school CNY celebration. It was the day taht the whole school folded hearts together. I was appointed to class 4A to teach them how to FOLD. Concert in School wasn't graet at all. LOTS of room for improvement.

Chinese New Year!
The only thing that can excite me during Chinese New Year is that I can get to buy new clothes, new shoes! Sometimes it's really boring going around relatives house "Gong Xi Gong Xi" and sit at the sofa for the whole day.
I must try my best to enjoy Chinese New Year this year :D:D

English Narrative Lesson

Lessons are just so cool nowadays. We had to take pictures and come out with a narrative based on the theme

Dejection.

I will totally 'huh' when the word dejection came out because I don't really understad it's meaning. I know my Engslish standard is super low.

Anyway. Group-ed with Shaun, Benedict, ShengChieh and Michelle.

Our story was about a man by the name of Mister Bean had a gambling addict. Loan sharks went up his house and his wife, Mrs Bean, left with her 2 sons, Green Bean and Yellow Bean. Mister Bean got beaten up. He commited suicide. Died.

TK English teachers are trying to add colours into lessons.

I was just in time for school. Assembly in the assembly plaza and luckily I had Shuan, Benedict and Sheng Chieh if not I would be very lonely.

I'm in a pure Geogrpahy class and I have a Geography teacher as my form teacher :D Guess Who!

The first thing she told me at the assembly plaze was...

"I don't like your hair"

She was just having an attire check. AHAHA. Luckily no barber.

Anyway. 3A has got Mdm SONIA YEO. It's so obvious that she requested to teach that class. All her goodie goodie 2D students are there.

HODs gave talks telling us to study hard and must attend supplementary everday which will end at 4pm!!! I have no time to go out after school!! I shall quote something from one of the teacher and I think it's really something for me to reflect on.

"In order to succeed, your will must be stronger than your skill."

After school was a 2D gathering. It was actually a planned birthday celebration for the January babies of 2D :)

My Class. 2D :)

Time flies and I had spent 2 years with you guys. We would be going different classes next year. It would be a whole new environment, new friends, new classmates and new challenges. I really enjoyed the 2years spent with you guys. Definitely there were quarrels and argues but they are just part and parcel of life, we grow and mature as get over them.

I shall be honest. It has been 3 years since I last visited Sentosa :P I feel like a frog in a well. Anyway. Today met up with the poepl of 2D for a trip to SENTOSA! We traveled out of SINGAPORE! :D:D

Celebrated Ah Ma's birthday last Saturday. We went to Jumbo Seafood restaurant for dinner! Many seafood were not available so it was kinda sad.

1Dec, World Aids Day. The aids thingy has been a hot topic recently. Mainly because of the Channel 8 drama tittled Bu Fan De Ai. More people are aware of aids now. Hehe.

The first thing that will pop out in everyone's mind when u mention about aids will be SEX. Sex is the main cause of aids. Having casual sex, too many sexual partners or whatever will get aids!!

Advices from MISTER JOVAN!
#1. Practice safe sex :D
#2. Do not be involve in casual sex!
#3. Not to have many sexual partners
#4. Be loyal to your spouse.

HAHAHAHA! Safe sex is very important and I think my house promotes safe sex. It is just so easy and simple for me to get a condom at home! There is one packet behind my bed. haha. I think it is very cool! haha.

Teenagers has also become part of Aids. Teens have AIDS, its not just the adult and the gay disease! Singapore education sytem used to promote NO SEX, but now it's more on SAFE SEX. The difference is great and I think we should really take this chance to think about it.

Do not let Aids ruin your life :D

Below is an article about discussing about foreign students being a threat to local students in Singapore. Read the article carefully and you can see my name in it.

THEY are not a threat.

That was the view of most local students of their foreign peers in a poll by The New Paper.

Of the 104 students polled, 77 per cent had foreign students in their classes or levels.

And 86 per cent of the 104 don't see foreign students as a threat to them.

"They may be more hard-working than we are, but I don?t feel threatened into competing with them," said St Joseph's Institution's Timothy Chan, 16.

"It's up to me if I want to push myself. It doesn't make a difference whether they are in the picture or not."

Many agreed and some also said their foreign peers helped them.

Kuo Chuan Presbyterian student Max Misson, 13, said he had received help in his weaker subjects, mathematics and Chinese.

"I feel I am on par with them even though most of them are older," he said.

But what of older foreign students competing with younger locals at the same academic level?

It's still fair, said 66 per cent.

"It is fair competition overall, since we study the same things and have the same lessons. They achieve because they are smart and work hard," said Jovan Yeo, 14, of Tanjong Katong Secondary.

They face disadvantages too, said some local students.

Jaren Lim, 14, of Victoria School, said that foreign students "don't have it easy" because they have to adapt to an unfamiliar education system.

Added Soh Shu Yi, 13, of Bedok View Secondary: "They come here with a lower level of education than us because Singapore's standards are higher."

Quek Jing Xiao, 15, of Raffles Girls', said: "English isn't their first language, so it's not their fault that they are held back a couple of years."

Among the 14 per cent who felt "threatened" by foreign students is Rachel Chia, 16, of Yuying Secondary.

She said: "They are constantly reminded to work harder since they pay more to come here."

Samantha Seah, 15, of Raffles Girls', said that the Chinese students in her school were better at accelerated mathematics as they had learnt some advanced maths concepts in China.

But Jed Chan, 14, of Kuo Chuan Presbyterian, said those who do well are "always humble".

"They never gloat. They are hard-working, so they deserve whatever they get. They are my role models."

Amazingly, I did not know about this article until last night when I was shown by someone ,who stalked me online. :D Yes, indeed those words came out from my mouth. Actually I typed it out in a sms. Kelvin Chan asked me for survey about this foreign threat issue last time and I did not expect it to be something on the newspaper.

Anyway. Let's face the truth. We hate foreign students just because they do better than us in academic. If you were to have a classmate from other country and his or her result in school isn't that great, will you think that he or she is a threat? NO. So, it's really the hard work that they put in that made them scholars. Maybe it's becasue they have spent so much money and effort to get a place in Singapore School, so they treasure their place a lot and study much much more harder than we students.

Let's study hard and not use foreign students as an excuse for not doing well in school. :D

Trained to Douby Ghaut and met up with Isaac. Had dinner with him at Fish and Co. It was his birthday, so i ordered a slice of cake for him and the staff of Fish and Co sang him a birthday song. He had to stand on the unbalanced chair with a sparkles on his hands. haha.

Early in the morning, some men came to my house and started to fix and install the air-cons. The air conditioners in my rooms were spoilt for months.
I took bus to school in the early afternoon and collected my report book together with Alvin. Im 11th in the class! :D Cheer for me! whaha :D

Met the others to celebrate Gloria's birthday at Parkway and headed down to East Coast Park.
Cycled all the way to Changi and I fell off the bike 8 times (as told by Esther) but I think I fell off more times. The brakes and the chains all went out of place and Alvin had to fix it for me :D Thanks!

Returned the bikes and to my surprise/ horror/ shock/ joy, I saw Miss Dionis Liaw and Clarrisa! :D

Went to Swensens' for dinner. Jowie, YanHan, Esther, Alvin, Benedict, Delbert, Phillip and I were all there for Gloria's birthday dinner :D Jeannette made haer surprise appearence.

I was fast in finishing up my food and I went out secretly and met up with BoonHui to get a cake for Gloria. The auntie at Bengawan Solo called me a "XiaoJie". Ahem* Which part of me looks like a lady? Probably the auntie needs an eye check.
Surprise Surprise! A Kind soul there offered to help us look for a lighter to light up the candles. Thanks a lot! :D

12 October!

Went to Scouts HQ in the morning, did nothing much. We had the sending off ceremony in the afternoon and it lasted for only 20 minutes. Haha. The dance performance put up by some of the rest of us was cute.

1.Mummy wanted to go shopping.
2. Mummy want me to go home.
3. Parents wants to fetch me.
4. They don't want to go out anymore.

I was pissed with them for changing their plans. I was totally angry. In the end, I decided not to stay home and rot and join some of the 2D people at Raymond's birthday BBQ.

I'm an ugly nerd.

Made my way there and it was in the late afternoon already. Had dinner, BBQ food and some yellow rice there. Haha. Raymond's Ah Ma's ARHCAR is really nice :D

Day 1

Back to school for scouts. Planned hike route. There will be an over night hike on the 7 to 8 Nov. 8Nov will be BBQ in school and camp til 9Nov. :D
COOL! After hike planning, we had shift spars and sand them to remove the splinters. It was DUMB. We were told that we will be planning for hike and none of us brought any clothes to change and after shifting spars and stuffs, we were all dirty.

Met him at Orchard after his school and we started walking around and looking for things to buy :D Saw Sarah at KFC, she is still as BIG. Haha. I doubt she recognizes me. :D
Gotten a Vintage Polo Tee from Queen's Couture.
We were bored with Orchard and decided to take a train down to City Hall. Marina-Square.
Club Marc was having a SUPER HUGE sales! They had this 365 days 50% sales. That started quite long ago and even with the 50% discount, is is still expensive but the price was SLASHED down a lot.
I got myself a black polo tee that has got buttons all the way down and a tank top. :D:D
It was still early and Marc decided to go watch a movie. :D

End-of-Year exams. Jovan slacked through but it's OVER! Let's just wait for results~ and I will be in LONG PANTS next year! No one can laugh at me anymore~ hahaha~

After the last paper, I went to Bugis with some of the 2D people. Haha. They had KFC and Esther was crazy over some cute guy that was in black and green, sitting ACROSS me! :D:D (I've got the BEST view).
Took neoprint together and as usual, girls are girls, they will take erm. 20minutes to decorate the neoprints! haha. Try beating the record :D While waiting for them to play with the machine, Alfreda and Shaowei came and BYE BYE 2D.
We then walked around Bugis, had lunch and IsaaceKENNIE came :D haha. He is so cute :D:D lalalaa~ Shaowei and Alfreda were behaving like retards! haha

How did I lose so much weight?
Firstly, I'm in the growing stage and I'm gowing taller. So, my fats are being spread around when I grow tall.
Secondly. Diet control. No unhealthy snacks and sweet drinks!! Try not to eat if possible and I chose to take more meat than rice (carbohydrates) at a point of time. I don't know if it works. haha.
Thirdly. I set a target for myself! :D:D Lesser fat= Fitter (I suppose)= Better looking = Able to find my perfect partner!! :D:D

Haha. Slap me if u want.

Anyway. I have been eating alot recently because I think I've lost way too much weight. Haha. :D:D Happy stuffing myself with food everyday :D:D

Hey Hey!! I haven't been blogging recently. :D hehe. Anyway my hairstyle is almost similar to the on in the picture now. (Always got caught for being too good looking, that's why got to get my hair cut) Haha!

Anyway. It's examination period now!! WHOOOOOO~ Hope everyone is studying hard :D It is going to be my last time studying some subjects! Definitely NO more literature for me next year, hehe, but it's a cool subject. :D:D

3rd time this year that I'm caught for unacceptable hair and had to get my hair cut in school. It sucks. Yes. Seriously, my hair is already short and they want to get it cut.

-Well Done Gongshang! :D

HaoYang asked me back to Gongshang to help out with their Cub scout challenge. I went back Gongshang early in the morning and kinda helped out abit in their SOUR GRAPE practice. Haha. ABIT. :D Had packed lunch in Gongshang and we then took the school bus to Catholic High.

Reached Catholic High. The old Gongshang scouts went around Catholic High to explore and the school is REALLY BIG. The primary school side has really cool toilets :D:D
